Variation of Root Soluble Sugar and Starch Response to Drought Stress in Foxtail Millet

نویسندگان

چکیده

Foxtail millet is an important crop in Northwest China; however, the mechanism responsible for regulating root adjustment, including water uptake, sugar transport, or metabolism, foxtail remains unclear. Two cultivars (the drought-resistant Yugu1 [YG] and drought-sensitive An04 [An]) were used to detect physiological, molecular, agronomic traits under two different soil conditions. Water use efficiency increased by 18.4% 63.2% drought stress An YG, respectively. Under stress, YG exudation (RE) decreased 66.7% 89.0%, photosynthesis rate 34.3% 61.8%, grain yield 40.6% 62.6%, contained a high ratio of soluble starch, whereas remained consistent. RNA-seq data showed lower expression beta-amylase 2 than An. The levels three SWEET genes involved transport four plasma membrane intrinsic protein (PIP) higher An, allocating more photosynthetic roots prevent significant elevation starch. SiPIPs also enhanced capacity. Based on above-mentioned adaptations, maintains RE, stomatal conductance, net

the response of pearl millet root (pennisetum americanum l.) to drought stress and re-watering

to evaluate the effects of drought stress and re-watering on nodal roots initiation and growth, two glasshouse experiments were conducted in commonwealth scientific and industrial research organization (csiro) in australia during 2008-2009. the experimental designs in both experiments were factorial in a randomized complete block design with two factors. first factor was drought stress and seco...

Taxonomic structure and functional association of foxtail millet root microbiome.

The root microbes play pivotal roles in plant productivity, nutrient uptakes, and disease resistance. The root microbial community structure has been extensively investigated by 16S/18S/ITS amplicons and metagenomic sequencing in crops and model plants. However, the functional associations between root microbes and host plant growth are poorly understood. This work investigates the root bacteri...

Study of morphological and physiological response of red root pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.) to drought stress

Redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.) is a noxious and cosmopolitan weed that is widely distributed in different parts of the world and competes severely with crops and reduces their growth and yield. The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of drought stress on some morphological and physiological characteristics of redroot pigweed in 2018 and 2019. Treatments included d...

Role of hydrogen sulfide in the methyl jasmonate response to cadmium stress in foxtail millet.

Methyl jasmonate (MeJA), a vital cellular regulator, mediates diverse developmental processes and defense responses against environmental stresse. Recently, a novel gasotransmitter, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), was found to have similar functions, but the interactions between H2S and MeJA in the acquisition of cadmium (Cd) tolerance have not been reported. Treating foxtail millet with 1 microM MeJA ...
